For the past month, I have had been able to go and work out with my husband every day before he leaves to go to work. It has been great. We have a membership to Snap Fitness and it is so close and you can go any time that you want to. About a month ago I started adding weights along with my regular cardio work out. It has been good even though I really don't like doing weights. I do think it helps.
Today, I had a scary, interesting experience. I had finished working out on the elliptical for 42 min and went to start doing my weights. I was feeling pretty hot and sweaty, which is normal, but I started to get hotter and started to feel sick. It was feeling like it was so hot that I wasn't getting any air. It also seemed like I was sweating even more than I already was. I was sitting down and it just didn't seem to get better. Kind of scary. One of my friends happened to be there and when I went over to the floor to sit down I guess she looked at me and noticed something. A few minutes later I tried to do weights again and she came up to me and asked if I was ok. I was wearing a green shirt and she said that I looked the color of my shirt. Not too much fun, but finally I did get feeling better and we did head home. I didn't do too many weights because I knew I just needed to not push it.
Have any of you had an experience similar to this? What were you doing?

I have felt that way before--it was DEHYDRATION!

Yikes!!!!! That is horrible! Yeah, I have that happen to me but usually it is BEFORE exercise when I'm just *thinking* about doing it, haha! Be careful!
In college once in my weight lifting class, I pushed too hard and had to go home and throw up. It was honestly like I had the flu. I don't know why it happened though...maybe Rae is right and it was dehydration coupled with over exertion.
When I was pregnant with my oldest I was really sick, but had to go to training for an on-campus work study job. As I stood there I started to feel dizzy and break out into a cold sweat, and someone told me that I had gotten really pale. I almost fainted but someone got me a chair really fast. I ended up finding a different work study job that had me sitting at a desk instead...
I sometimes get a rapid heart fluttering thing that is brought on by hormone fluctuations...
Yep...dehydration or exercise induced asthma.

I went to a stake blood drive and gave blood and then went to do sealings with my husband about an hour later. While kneeling at the altar I started feeling really light headed and seeing spots. The next thing I remember was sitting in a chair and everyone was looking at me. Someone handed me juice and crackers and was asking me if I was alright. I had fainted while at the altar and my husband had to reach around and catch me and hold me from falling and then had sat me in the chair. Because I had fainted I was unaware of any of this. It was a very weird feeling!!
I haven't. It sounds like you got overheated ... but what would cause that when you haven't done anything different? Maybe the dehydration comment makes the most sense. I think it is great, WONDERFUL that you can work out in the morning with your husband. I hope that you can keep doing it!
That is very scary. My gym membership kicks in tomorrow at a new gym that opened near my house. I just booked my first visit for Thursday. I did, however, take a "boot camp" class a few months ago but quit early due to a similar experience. I had been able to do pretty much everything at the camp (and it was really hard) except the running. After about my 4th or 5th class, on one of the laps around the track, I thought I was having an asthma attack. My husband was there and said I started to turn blue. I went back one more time but quit after that. I did go to the doctor to get tested but turns out, I'm just really out of shape. Maybe you just need to slow down a bit. If you're worried, I would talk to your doctor though. Good luck!
I have had this happen. Multiple times. Usually when I start a new program or push myself hard or there is poor air quality. I think that dehydration is definitely a factor. You did the right thing by going home. I hope it doesn't happen again.
That is scary! Once after I gave blood I almost blacked out. I was leaving the trailer they had us in and it kind of went in and out of black. I sat down and was fine. It was strange because I had sat down for a few minutes before, but I guess not long enough. Probably was dehydration for you.
I've experienced severe dyhydration and I agree that may have been what it was. You can feel ill, lightheaded, dizzy, and just not "right" all at the same time. I hope you are feeling better!

Holy Crazyness! Take it easy sis. We want to keep you around for a few more year. Plus, why do you need to lift weights? You're married to more muscle than you'll ever need.
