You just never know

I was reading this book that I have and I came across this poem. It is very true and I love it.

You never know when someone
May catch a dream from you
You never know when a little word
Or something you may do
May open up the windows
Of a mind that seeks the light

The way you live may not matter at all,
But you never know--- It might.

And just in case it could be
That another's life, through you,
Might possibly change for the better
It seems it might be worth a try
At pointing the way to the right
Of course, it may not matter at all,
But then again--- it might.

Helen Lowrie Marshall

This really made me think. I hope that I can be the kind of person that makes a difference in someone's life, rather it be my blogging friends, my close friends, family or just an acquaintance. I hope to be the one that makes that difference.

Beautiful poem. I feel it to be really important to make a difference in a life as well. Almost three years ago, at work, I had a young girl working for me. She was threatening suicide. Another girl came to me and told me how scared she was that she would go through with it. To make a long story short I managed to have her committed to a facility where she could get the help she needed. Though, that day she was angry and lied to me, she later came back to me and told me how she loved me and that I saved her life. This to me, is one of my best accomplishments!!

What a wonderful thought - I'll have to remember it . . . better yet, I'm doing a copy/paste so I'll have it handy:)

I have had that poem written down in my favorite quotes journal since I was a teenager. It's really a good one, and I think I needed the reminder today. Thanks Kathy!
